We AFAF member artists are a busy group – balancing family, career, volunteer work and everyday life with the undeniable need to create! Communication is a challenge, so we hope this page helps. Do you have suggestions for our “Just For Members” page? Submit your ideas at our monthly Member Meeting or email them to Terri at millerism@sbcglobal.net.

AFAF Member FAQ’s
Am I able to teach an art class at the Gallery?
Yes, AFAF members in good standing are welcome to use the Antioch Art Center as the venue for their own art classes! You can also recommend non-members who have art education adventures to share. Youth art teachers must hold appropriate certification. For details contact Monica Feld, AFAF Education Coordinator, at mfeld29@comcast.net or 224.422.8522.
How do Member Meeting Demonstrations work?
AFAF Member Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm, and after the meetings end at 7:00 pm we host an hour-long demonstration or discussion of interest to all. Free for AFAF members, these demos are also open to non-member guests for a donation of $5.00.
If you’d like to present your own demo or can suggest someone from your creative circle who would be interested, please reach out to Program Coordinator Barbara Wagner. Funds are available to reimburse presenters for their time and materials.
Barbara would love to discuss your ideas and suggestions for desired topics. She hopes to hear from you soon and to see you at the next Member Meeting!
How do I become an AFAF Featured Artist?
Exhibiting Members in good standing are encouraged to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to showcase your artwork! Artists are responsible for hanging and labeling their own exhibit, as well as providing a paper Artist’s Statement for display and a short bio for website and social media publication. Interested? Check the calendar in the gallery office and talk to Carol about signing up!
If I suddenly can’t work my scheduled volunteer hours how do I find a replacement?
The best way to find another member who can swap hours is to send an email to our exhibiting artists. If you need help locating a current email distribution list text Anna at 847-651-9886 and she can walk you through it.
If you absolutely can’t find a replacement please phone a member of the Board so that they can try other options.
Instagram Showcase Artist
Hello exhibiting artists! If you’re interested, we can now feature your work as a Showcase Artist on our Instagram page! If you don’t have an Instagram account, now would be a good time to get one. If you do have one, be sure to follow us!
It would be nice to have a photograph of you, a short bio, and up to 10 photos of your art. We can make this into a multi-page post or “reel” video with music. Share the post on your own Instagram page and/or story and encourage others to follow you and the gallery! If you’re interested, please contact Suki by email, by text or by DM on our Instagram Page: Antioch_Fine_Arts_Foundation
Why do we fill out the same information twice on the show tags attached to artwork brought in for display?
Half of the tag stays with your artwork while the other half is torn off and used to create your price tag label. Both halves are matched up when the art is hung!
