AFAF Member FAQ’s

What are “Art in Action” Demonstrations?

Thanks to the efforts of Barbara Wagner, visitors can enjoy live “Art in Action” demonstrations each 2nd Saturday before the start of our monthly receptions!  Demos, which are free and open to the public, start at 1:00 pm.

If you’d like to present your own demo or can suggest someone from your creative circle who would be interested, please reach out to Program Coordinator Barbara Wagner.  Funds are available to reimburse presenters for their time and materials.

Barbara would love to discuss your ideas and suggestions for desired topics.  She hopes to hear from you soon and to see you at the next Member Meeting!

Am I able to teach an art class at the Gallery?

Yes, AFAF members in good standing are welcome to use the Antioch Art Center as the venue for their own art classes!  You can also recommend non-members who have art education adventures to share.  Youth art teachers must hold appropriate certification.  For details contact Cynthia Trombino, AFAF Education Coordinator.

Antioch Library “Art on the Wall”

ART FOR THE COMMUNITY!  AFAF artists are invited to exhibit our work at the Antioch Public Library, with new displays going up every three months!  All sales will be processed through the gallery.

What have you been working on lately?

Join us at 9:30 am on the third Wednesday of each month for Creative Coffee, an informal morning gathering to chat about art, discuss works in progress and share creative inspiration.  Mary Norvell is your hostess and she makes a great pot of coffee!

How do I become an AFAF Featured Artist?

Exhibiting Members in good standing are encouraged to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to showcase your artwork!  Artists are responsible for providing a paper Artist’s Statement for display, as well as a short bio and a few photos for newsletter publication.  Interested?   Talk to Carol about signing up!

If I suddenly can’t work my scheduled volunteer hours how do I find a replacement?

The best way to find another member who can swap hours is to send an email to our exhibiting artists.   If you need help locating a current email distribution list text Anna at 847-651-9886 and she can walk you through it.

If you absolutely can’t find a replacement please phone a member of the Board so that they can try other options.

Why do we fill out the same information twice on the show tags attached to artwork brought in for display?

Half of the tag stays with your artwork while the other half is torn off and used to create your price tag label.  Both halves are matched up when the art is hung!
