~ Logan Ghormley ~

Logan Ghormley was a glass blowing artist.  He also did some mixed media pieces with wire and glass. Below is a statement Logan wrote about his art.  Sadly, he passed away at just 20 years old in 2018.  There is a memorial display of Logan‘s art at the Antioch Art Gallery.  His art is for sale in some of the gallery’s invitational shows. He was a member of the Antioch Fine Arts Foundation and his work was also shown in the Pollard Gallery in Kenosha.  He received a scholarship to attend a workshop at Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, as well as taking other workshops there.  Additionally, he took art classes at the College of Lake County.  That is where he began to use wire and glass to create some of his unique bird’s nest pieces.

In speaking of his art, Logan wrote, “I hope that you enjoy the glass art.  I am a glass artist and work with hot shop glass, lampworking, and mixed media. I am inspired by the patterns in nature. I have been experimenting with color and pattern.  I have been glass blowing for about 5 years, since I was 15 years old.  I saw a demonstration at a local renaissance fair and really wanted to try it, but I think my connection to glass occurred when I was very young.  My family did a lot of rock collecting then. The shining sunstones and Jelly Opals I collected in Oregon with my mom are still vivid in my mind.  The shine of glass reminds me of the rocks but glass blowing allows me to manipulate shapes and patterns.”
