Leslie Nauta’s bright and colorful paintings are designed to excite the viewer, whether it’s a landscape, still-life, animal or even recent experiments with abstract design. She paints with passion and feeling, using acrylic, watercolor or pastel in brilliant colors and bold compositions. Leslie truly enjoys the process of watching a blank canvas grow and come to life, sometimes by a surprise accident, but also feels a sense of pride in creating finished artwork for posterity.
Leslie has studied under Sunny Parenteau, educated at the Chicago Art Institute; Patty Rodgers BFA of the Rhode Island School of Design; Roger Shule, watercolorist; and David Becker, TWSA, American Academy of Art. Leslie herself teaches youth and adult classes at the Antioch Art Center and Adler Cultural Center.
As a member of The Antioch Fine Arts Foundation, Lake County Art League, David Adler Cultural Center, College of Lake County Wright Gallery and the Grayslake Art Alliance, Leslie has held many past and present exhibits at each venue. She is also honored to have created commissioned paintings for numerous art clients, including dogs, cats, homes, children’s football and baseball pictures and paintings of tourist sights.
