Soft Pastel for Beginners – Tropical Seascape – 4 Part Course – Wednesdays in June

Artist Tiffani Williams guides students age 16 to adult as they learn the basics of using soft pastel while painting a beautiful expressionist style seascape! This class is a series of four, 90-minute sessions over four weeks, with each class building on the previous session. Techniques and concepts you will learn include:

How sunlight affects skies, clouds, and water
Types of strokes
Color vs. temperature vs. value
Color studies
Sketching
Underpainting
Blocking and building layers
Creating depth and detail
Finding color where none exists
Blending methods
Fixing
Framing

Fee for the four-part course is $150, payable at registration.
Class Dates are Wednesdays June 4, 11, 18 & 25, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.

Supply List – Tiffani will provide paper, blending tools, fixative and reference photos. Attendees must provide:

Soft pastels (not oil pastels) in a range of landscape colors

#2 pencil and sharpener
Optional – gloves, masks & hand wipes, if desired
Our last lesson will include framing the painting. Please bring your choice of 11×14 frame with 8×10 mat and GLASS (not plexi or acrylic)
