Jeff’s thoughtful photographs are a delight for the eye and the soul. We love the surprises they bring to the art center, and are proud to feature his unique camera lens. Jeff is also a valued AFAF volunteer, helping out when needed with our monthly Art Lines newsletter. This impressive show will run through May – with our monthly open-house reception on Saturday the 9th.
In Jeff’s own words, “Photography has been a hobby for most of my adult life. Delving into different aspects of digital work and always finding new subjects and techniques to satisfy my creative soul. Being retired, I have time to explore new avenues and creative endeavors. Teaching at the College of Lake County is one of the most rewarding things I do. I’m always surprised at the students work and how much they teach me about photography.”
“Creativity is a form of exercise for the mind that helps keep it healthy. Determining the correct exposure and composition, and then taking that digital file from my camera and transforming it into a final image requires a creative thought process from start to finish. It also requires constant learning, not only about the software being used, but of different ways of seeing the world and interpreting the resulting digital file to give the image I visualized. I consider myself not as a photographer creating art, but as an artist using photography as the medium. “
