Cynthia’s recent work includes jewelry pieces using semi-precious stones, metal and vitreous enamel on copper. She states that her inspiration has always been nature, but more recently she is also inspired by her son’s work. Logan Ghormley, Cynthia’s son, was an exceptional glass blowing artist who also created wire and glass sculptures. Sadly, Logan passed away in 2018 at the age of 20. Cindy recalls the years of watching him develop his passion and create his art: “Logan was attuned to the patterns in nature and opened my eyes to look for them.” Cynthia also creates photographs with a focus on patterns. Photographs of nature or of drawings or paintings are manipulated using computer software to highlight the patterns.
Along with the jewelry, Cynthia now creates wire and glass sculptures using the wire techniques that Logan used. Sometimes she does collaborative pieces with Logan’s work by adding his glass and wire to her artwork, including broken or fused pieces of glass. The images below are wire and glass pieces combined with Logan’s work.
