Phil Schorn Colored Pencil Class – Ages 14 to Adult – 4 Session Course – Wednesdays 6:00 to 8:30 pm

AFAF is thrilled to once again host an immersive colored pencil fine art workshop by well-known artist and instructor Phil Schorn.  This 4-part workshop is designed not only for beginners, but experienced artists who wish to expand their skills or try a new fine art medium.  Class size is limited so register early!

Explore the beauty of this misunderstood medium and learn why drawing with colored pencils is truly a fine art.  New techniques and projects will be introduced in each session.  Students should plan on attending all four classes as lessons will carry over and multiple projects will be completed over the course of the workshop.

You will learn everything you need to get started – types of paper, pencils, how to put the color down, layering and blending.  We will do two or three different renderings over the course of the workshop.  Reference graphics will be provided or Phil can assist with work on an image of your own choosing.

Fee for the four-week course is $160, payable before the first class.
Class Dates are Wednesdays April 10, 17 & 24, and May 8, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm..

Supply List:  Students should bring the following items to the first class.  These are common art supplies available online or through your local art supply store.

1) 48-count set of Prismacolor softcore pencils (or larger set of 72 for a few dollars more)
2) 1 300 Series 9 x 12-inch Strathmore Bristol smooth surface drawing pad
3) 1 Blick or Prismacolor colorless blending pen
4) Pencil sharpener (electric or manual)
5) Smooth surface to draw on (drawing board)
6) Clean soft paint brush (or a drafting brush)
